Hey gang, as most of you may know I just put in new R&P front and back.
I am also going to Blazer-Fest next week.
My rear has about 50miles on it and the front has about 15.
Should I replace the rear gear oil before the trip or just don't worry about it until after????
Also, I am running the HDuty suff that is like 140wt instead of 90wt that also has the limmited slip additive allready mixed in the oil. Is that enough additive or should I get a bottle of stink and add that to the mix also?????
    Thanks for your thoughts!

The instructions that came with my ring and pinion suggested changing the gear lube after 500 miles. Of course, 500 miles with the hubs unlocked won't put any wear on the front gears. [IMG]

Considering you've done some major work there, I'd change it before and after. It can't hurt, and what does a few quarts of gear oil cost??? Strain the old stuff through some old pantyhose to catch any chips that may come out, and take a good look at them to see if any are "Oh God, it's all coming apart" -sized.

If at first you don't succeed, failure may be your style...

Ya I know the 500 mile thing too but was just worried about the 'break-in' metal flakes that get in the oil. I wonder if that will do any harm when wheelin. I plan on being light footed with the throttle because the R&Ps are new anyway so......

I'd go with what you have and change it when you get back.
IF not, do the rear only. How long is it going to take you to put 500 on the front?[IMG]
