I am putting new gears in my truck this spring and I wanted to get an idea of what would work best. I run 35" tires and I have the 700R4 tranny. I tow a ski boat in the spring/summer so I got to have towing power, But in the winter I have to drive 4 hours to the snow. Currently I have 3:42 gear ratio(Which is worthless for towing). I am thinking of 4:56, What do you guys think?

With the overdrive and 35's 4.56s should be perfect, nice low end grunt, but the OD will bring down freeway rpms, just don't tow in OD and if you haven't yet, get a nice big tranny cooler.

I have a 4,000# boat that I tow behind my rig sometimes. I run 4.56s with 305 engine and 700 and 35s. Works great. Anything less and you will be disappointed. You will REALLY notice the difference going from 3.42s. I jumped from 3.73s.
