    208 is 2.61 to 1
205 is either 1.96 to 1 or 2 to 1 depending who you ask

Just check the Spec page on CK5 and yes the 241 is 2.72:1 and the 208 is 2.6:1

    231, 241 etc are 2.72 to 1
    the 208 is 2.61 to 1
205 and 203 are roughly 2 to 1 (one or the other is 1.96 to 1)

NP205 is the worst (low gear wise) at 1.96:1
But the all gear drive and cast case makes it one of the best (strength wise). It's too bad nobody offers a lower ratio kit. That way we could have our 'proverbial cake' and eat it too.

There is a Right way, a Wrong way, and then there is My way. The latter is usually the most fun! [IMG]

Wonder if there is any strength difference in the 241 vs. the 208? I would like to step "up" to the 241. 205's are strong, but you loose a little low range. i have beat on my 208 without problems(knock on wood).... It would also be nice to get a HD241 out of a dodge or somethign and convert it to a Chevy bolt in. Then get a SYE kit for it.
A doubler owuld be ultimate, but i haven't won the lottery yet! [IMG]

Re: gear ratio\'s for transfer cases?

I was just wondering because I eventually will get my 700r4 rebuilt and for an extra $160 I would install the shaft so I can bolt up my spare 205. I would rather have a gear to gear than a chain anyday. Thanks for the info fellas.
