gears or engine

    I bought a 86 back in feb. and its real slugish it has a 305 and 3.08 gears with 35" tires
    If I change the gears do you thank this will help my power problem or do I need to change the

    Change the gears first, they have to be changed anyways.

    3.08 and 35's must really suck. Even with a 383 you would want 4.10's probably

    Yea I figure 3.08 and 35's with a 305 must be really doggy. But what do you plan do to with the truck? It will probably be cheaper to get a set of 3/4ton axles then to change the gears If you plan on doing anything rough you really should get somthing stronger then ½ton SO I say go for gears(or axles with gears all 14bolt FF's have atleast 3.73 but most have 4.10) then a 350 swap then build the 350. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
