The Media has NO place in the thick of war.... /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif they need to stay back and report from the outside...
As if we don't have enough nit pickin about this war or any war we don't need those F*#@s in there scrutinizing every move our troops make /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

If it is still moving, it is still a threat. This is just another opportunity for the left and the media (like there's a difference?) to crap on our boys overseas.

Note that every piece I saw on this cut away as soon as the shot was fired, no follow up conversation, no search of the body. And then most of them had a tiny ass blurb about how "occasionally" the insurgents are booby trapping the body or leaving a concealed weapon with the wounded in order to take out a few more of our boys while they're busy following the stinking Geneva Convention guidelines, and helping these dune monkeys.

I say two to the noggin for every one of these guys, no more medics or field hospitals, put 'em in the express lane to 72 virgins. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

There are ways you can fight liberalism, and it's wise to choose (political) battles carefully. Bitch and whine about it, or call thier bluffs through to completion (or deflation). If the bluff is how horrible our boys are over there, then follow the investigation through. If he did something wrong, he should be accountable, shouldn't he?

As I understand it, Marines are highly trained intelligent individuals (observed even in the marines on ck5), the most potent military force in the world. Would one be tactless enough to commit a crime knowing there's a camera and a talking head around? I'd have to guess not, but I don't know what battle fatigue, etc, does to a person.

If this Marine was wrong and committed a callous act of murder, why should it be overlooked? I personally think stuff like the Geneva convention is kinda stupid, but I think it's important to abide by as much as we can if we've agreed to abide by it.

My personal perception, from what I saw/heard on the news, is that there was confusion that these were freshly wounded enemy combatants. Past experiences with the like have taught the Marines on site that the wounded insurgents would blow themselves up or be booby trapped to explode when coalition troops were near them. By this Marine shooting him while he was found to be alive and faking death, in his mind, he was basically getting the guys' finger off a bomb trigger or something. If that's the case, which I think comes across fairly clear to anyone even loosely following the war, then the Marine should have nothing to worry about. If that's not the case, and he shot the guy to let off steam or something, then that's murder I guess, and he should answer for it.

I think the news agencies hopping all over this is not really a good thing, but the coverage I saw last night was fairly level, explaining the part about insurgents blowing up thier own bodies. I don't think it would be wise to remove "embedded" reporters. What would be nice and fair is if the news services used more realistic footage instead of selective footage they can sensationalize.

I agree to a point...obviously we can make demands of a country to follow specific rules if we aren't setting the example ourselves...even if contractors are hung and paraded through the streets...even if military members are kidnapped and beheaded...

My dissapoint in our system as that this Marines actions are now being broadcasted around the world...to include that ****** ass, piece of SH*T Al Jazzera station...who you know is fueling fires with this....that's my primary issue...not weather or not this Marine had just cause to pop an insurgent in the head...

But like above posts mention, we know nothing about the circumstances leading up to this shooting...

Every news broadcast 'entity' is eating this up to get veiwers...and others will make assumptions that will do no good for our guys/gals in Iraq...

Yeah, right, I agree, the news agencies are frigging corrupt in this. I see it and I don't really think much more about it, but I can see how it's being and can be Michael Moored. I think it's BS that resources are being wasted investigating it, but it's so obvious that he's not intentionally in the wrong (to me in logic at least) that I think the investigation will make fools of those pointing fingers.
We can also look at this and realize there's probably not much "wrong" brutality occuring by our soldiers if the worst video they can pass around is one of a man doing his job.
Sorry, I think I was misunderstanding what you were saying.

No...you were right in calling me out...My primary cause for this post was to bash the reporters for not giving the Marines a chance to "cover this up"...And that is the wrong way to look at this...I hate the "Do as I say, Not as I do" phrase more than anything in this world!! And I hate the word "hipocrit" just as much...

So with that, I can only hope this Marine had 'just cause' to kill this guy...reguardless of our thoughts on 'kill 'em all and let Allah sort them out'...we still have to lead by example.

Any you will note that while this has been all over the news there is no mention of the body they found a few days ago that they believe was one of the 2 missing women but there not sure since it had been so badly mutilated they couldn’t identify it. These people are pigs and deserve to be treated so, but the bleeding heart socialist press fells sory for them and we are of course evil so they will report it that way.

Now I do not know the circumstances leading up to or surrounding this incident so I'm not going to comment about it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree that the media does not really need to be there, but the politicians would have a lot of grief if they did not allow it. From a personal standpoint, this MF'r was trying to kill Marines, and would attempt to do so if given the chance, so I see the reason behind smokin' his a$$. On the flip side, though, if this kind of behavior is allowed, you are no better than the scum you are fighting.

See, I'd call that more irresponsible reporting. I didn't even know there were two women missing. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The way I see it, there should be no cover up, and no excuses made. This is an enemy that follows a faith based on martyrdom! Our guys over there shold be following a standard order in which shooting the wounded is not only OK, but recommended. Anybody here think that POS who got wasted wouldn't have been right back at it when he healed up? I'd have thrown a pork chop on his ass when he quit gurglin...

In the marine's defense, he had been shot in the face the day before. Shoot me in the face, and I might be a bit trigger happy too. I might just kill a "maybe" threat rather than risk another shot to the face...

And that was the initial motivation behind the start of this post...but the more negativity gets thrown at the millitary over there, the tougher it's going to be to win this thing...and more Marines and soldiers will end up shot in the face...

I've never killed a man and i've never been shot...so i don't have the luxury of defending those who have...but i think i could say that if i were shot in the face, i would certainly want some retribution...the point is, this will hurt us more than it will anyone else....that was a faceless, nameless wounded insurgent...but it might as well have been friendly fire on an unarmed Brit as far as the press is concerned...

To the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been any mention in the media of whether or not there were visible indications of a boobytrap on the enemy, an enemy that has shown no second thoughts about blowing themselves up (alive, dead, or between) for their "cause". In my mind, a grenade spoon laying near a wounded enemy is an indicator of a probable boobytrap on said enemy. The list goes on, but I think the point is made.
And I'm kinda curious about something else, too... From the one time I've seen the video, it appears the reporter is already in the room the Marine is supposed to be clearing. Any thoughts or clarifications?

It pisses me off that there was little mention of the beheadings, but our guys make their guys wear underwear on their heads and our guys go to jail?

I hear ya...this is the first time the Marines have performed Urban Warfare...it's just a shame is all...the rule should be NO CASULTIES allowed...only kills...and all this could be avoided...even if reporters are allowed to 'tag along'...'Imbedded Reporters', what a f*ckin joke..

Amen Brother. As long as they are a confirmed combatant they should be entitled to two in the head, that's more courtesy than they show our guys, at least we're not choppin' heads off.

I just don't understand the mentality most people have, don't they realize that these people will not respect/fear (I don't care which) us until we start playing as hard as they are. There need to be some serious amounts of dead bodies on the news (and not just our guys for sh*t's sake) every day. The perception that we are getting our asses handed to us over there needs to be changed.
