So, since I’ve got the day off with no work or school, I’m just hanging out around the house with the wife, dog and cat. I’ve got nothing to do and nowhere to be. Life’s great! :D So, I log in to my e-may and I notice that I have about 50 e-mails saying that I have a successful e-bay listing! What? I didn’t list anything on e-bay.

I decide to check my account and sure enough, I’ve listed a bunch, maybe 50 or so, 6 hour auctions for some sort of expensive handbag. :eek1: I immediately notified e-bay, changed my e-bay password and canceled all of the auctions. Three had already sold. I e-mailed the auction winners to not to send money and that the auction was fraudulent.

Here’s the kicker. I then try to get back into my e-bay account and e-bay has locked my account because the bags infringed on their copyright/trademark misuse laws! And, not only am I locked out of my account, all money that is owed is due immediately for all of the listings. :doah: Luckily I was able to do what I did before e-bay locked me out.

Good thing I didn’t go to work today, I wouldn’t have caught this!

The e-mails that I got were legit. They were from e-bay saying that I had successfully listed an item. My e-bay account was hacked into.

The ones I looked at were nice. I really didn't have any clothing that would go with them though. :D

Damn, I was talking to a friend outside of class today. Same thing happened to him today. He has a Suzuki motorcycle for sale, some $6500+ auction. Obvoisly, not his auction. He said he never gave his password out to anyone.

He notified Ebay, changed his passowrd, and they locked his account. Then you have to call from your home phone number and they will give you an autorization code to make sure it is you re-activating your account.

Im about to go check my account...

    Ebay been hacked?

Well, my ebay account is clean. I would urge everyone to check their accounts and change their password.

Make your password more difficult while you are at it.
