After work today I'm going to pick up my 'new' 1984 K5 blazer. It was originally a 305, 4sp manual, 205 truck. The guy swapped the motor for a built 350, put a T400, and left the 205. The truck runs awesome! No rust anywhere, which is kinda hard to find around here. It sits stock with 31 x 10.5 on some chrome steelie's. On the options listing on the drivers inner fender under a black box (cruise???, it lists that on the same sheet), it says it has a locking differenial, code 1G80. Is that a gov loc? The axles are stock 10 bolt, front and rear. I'll take some pics when I get it home today.

Is there anything special that the govloc requires oil wise? Anything I can do to keep it from blowing up? Thanks!

The tcase shift pattern looks like this...

    2hi
    |
    4hi
    |___
    .....|
    .....N
    .....|
    .....4Lo

What does that mean as far as type of tcase? 205? 208?

    Look's like a t400 and a np208 to me.
On the t-case there is a round tag that will tell you for sure.

Whats the specs on a 208? Is it worth keeping or should I search for a different case?

Wow! Thats a lot lower than I expected it to be. Maybe I'll get a decent crawl ratio out of this truck then. Anyone know the first gear ratio of a T400?

Re: Getting my new truck today

From looking at the picture of the interior, thats a 208 shifter. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Low range on a 208 is 2.61:1. The only t-case available in our trucks that beats it, is the 241 at 2.72:1. 205 is 1.96:1. 203 is 2.01:1.

    TH400 1st gear is 2.48:1. Thats the highest of the autos. TH350 is 2.52:1. 700R4 is 3.06:1. Hehe, SM465 is 6.55:1. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif
