This is my grandmothers recipe from way back when, IMO, no others have been better.

    Spicy Gingerbread Cookies

"Spicy gingerbread cookies. For best flavor, do NOT use blackstrap molasses."
Original recipe yield: 2 1/2 dozen.
    Prep Time:20 MinutesCook
    Time:10 Minutes
    Ready In:30 Minutes
    Servings:30

    INGREDIENTS:
    • 1/2 cup margarine
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup molasses
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 1 teaspoon ginger
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    DIRECTIONS:
    1. In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar until smooth. Stir in molasses and egg yolk. Combine the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg; blend into the molasses mixture until smooth. Cover, and chill for at least one hour.
    2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
    3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until firm. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks. Frost or decorate when cool.

    The're very special!!..(HASH BROWNies??)

I thought ALL brownies were special??..  ...oh well....

Most all the snacks I make like those come from a box..like "Betty Crocker" ,or the ones with the Ghey "dough boy" on the package...:p: --or from a bakery at the local "Stop and Shop" or other stores..

Nothing beats an old homemade cookie though..I haven't had too many since my grandmothers passed away many years ago..my mother doesn't bake very often, but she still cooks good suppers..sick of cooking now that she's almost 78..

I see on Rhonda Vincent's website she has links to recipies from the Martha White Flour company, who sponsors her touring--you should see the brand new "Martha White Express" tour bus she just got this fall!:eek1: :eek1: talk about a "rolling home!!!"..
--She won first prize in a baking contest more than once, using their flour, and a "secret recipe" for what she named "Raging Cornbread"..she even makes it for fans who go to her party in june at her farm in MO!..I hope I get to try some..I LOVE cornread!..MMMM---MMmmmm!! UH-HUH--YES-MA'AM!.. ..
