Is there a website where you can look up just about any GM parts # for these beasts that we are spending our life savings on? I cant find a compitant perosn behind a Gm dealer parts computer to find the right parts.

Don't you buy no ugly truck!

You can try this one, but I am not sure it will work. It may only have 94 and up part #s. I have never tried looking an older part up by part #.

Another option is to get a catalog from http://www.lmctruck.com or http://www.cheyennepickup.com, they have many replacement parts we need. Year One Reproductions also has stuff, other places do too, but LMC seems to have darn near anything you might need. I have the actual original GM parts catalog, but doesn't seem to do a whole lot of good with GM parts discontinued.

Try www.paceparts.com I think they deal with more than just motors and trannys and they are a GM dealership also.

Guess I've been pretty lucky when dealing with the people behind the dealers parts counter. Thing is, once you find out who's the most resourceful you always work with that person. If there is such a site out there I'd like to use it just to cut down on the leg work for those guys on the other side of the counter.
