    GOIN\' TOPLESS!!

Well, I finally did it this 4th of July....went topless....my k5 that is. My 1st time having the topper off....I'd say it went rather smoothly, with the exception of a couple snapped bolts and a big gouge of paint missing from my rear passenger corner due to misjudging size, weight, and location....in other words, we dropped that corner on the truck and gouged the crap oughta my paint....but oh well....I love it!! Lucky for me it's going to be sunny all the way until Sunday night!! Man, my truck rides nicer...no more feeling like your on a boat rocking back and forth....it doesn't chug, lots more pick up, I look waaay cuter in it, and I get waaay more looks driving it. I love it....I love blazers!!! I'm really not looking forward to putting the top back on....damn that thing is heavy. anywho....gotta go cruise...see ya guys later.

I took mine off (for the first time) last weekend and when I put it back on, all the bolts on the driver side lined up right, but I could only get one bolt in on the passenger side, the others don't even come close to lining up.

I thought I had that same problem, because it looked like none of the bolts would line up correctly, but I remembered that the bolts dont just go into the body, they go into these little things that move around just underneath, I dont think I did a good job describing them, but oh well. What I did is get a screw driver and before bolting the top on, I used the screwdriver to allign the moveable part. Maybe that was your problem:)

    These things are EXPENSIVE

If you think yours is heavy, just come over and help me put my full top back on. It sucks a lot more.

Gotta get a soft top now eh? Then you only have to bolt the hardtop on in those cold Michigan winters.

    Talk later

    Hmmm.....
I thought the bolts went straight into the body...I'll have to look for the "thing" to align it correctly.

you guys should come over to my house and help me with mine if you want to see heavy. I have a confer rack that has a high lift jack, axe, shovel, and my spare 39.5 inch bogger. it takes 3 people to get mine on and off.

lol....ya makes me laugh thump!!! I guess I DON'T have that much to complain about...my topper's just a feather weight compared to some of you guys'.....but being that I weigh in at a whopping 105#'s...I don't quite do my share of the lifting when it's just me and hubby. If I had to lift 73K5's or Adrock's......I'd probably pop every vein in my body then get squished by the gunga topper. Not sure how mine's gonna line up when I heave it back on...my toppers pretty smashed on the roof. oh well, worry about that when it starts raining!

I took my top off in May. it was one of the best things ever.. 'specially cuz my A/C doesn't have Frion in it anymore. However, the rain kept collapsing my fast back top.. but after a few mods, and some make shift metal rod supports, the thing doesn't fall in anymore! Sometimes kinda makes me wish my truck was a pickup.

Hey 90K5, if it's the nut that is actually making noise, either crimp down the little bracket that holds it or just put a bolt in it and tighten it up.

Completely off subject, but I was shocked to see someone from Middleville. I'm born and raised there, left in late 97 when I joined the Marines. Haven't been home in a year. So what's going on back at home?

Try lugging a full top off a 72. That always takes 3 guys, so its hard to flip back and forth. My buddy's 79/91 Jimmy's roof seems a whole ton lighter than my bad dog!!! Oh but who cares how much they weigh as long as they come off!!!! Enjoy riding topless fellow K5 lovers!
