What are the considerations when converting from points to HEI ignition? Any wiring? Any timing or vacuum advance problems? Or does it just drop in. Oh yeah its a GM crate 350

Peace, love, and 4wd is all you need

I say forget the HEI stuff and drop in the MSD Pro-Billet 8360 ready to run distributer with a blaster 2 coil!!!
It will hook right up to your stock wires and the coil goes into the stock coil holder!! I have this setup and its sweet!!! No box to run all the electronics are in the base of the dist!! You can how ever add a MSD box if you want to but thats another 150 bucks!!
    Good Luck

Ys, I say drop the HEI also.
I ran MSD too. I ave an MSD 6a box, High Vibration coil(can be mounted in any direction) and a MSD Billet Distributor with SLip collar.

MSD is a great set up!

I went from points to HEI on my '74. The HEI I bought at a swap meet had an MSD board inside it. I was having a bad plug fouling problem that is completely gone now! I also went with Bosch Platinum plugs. Now, for your question, the unit will just drop in, but you need to run a nice +12 volts from the ignition switch (or circuit) to the B+ on you new HEI. The points trucks have a "dropping" resistor wire that reduces the voltage a little for point longevity. Set the timing pretty much the same and there ya go. If ya wanna run a tach you can just plug a .250 female spade onto the "Tach" terminal on the HEI cap and you're there.
