Determine why you ar ebuying said vehicle. Also best guess will it serve my in 1/2/3 years. Make an educated decision. If you want a good commuter truck for hauling minor stuff, then I'd go Tundra. If it's gonna be a tow rig in 2 yrs, then that won't work.

Just go Chevy period . As long as GM still has a big a$$ building overlooking the Detroit river , I will always reccomend Chevy :thumb:

But to eat their own I guess :wink1:

If you want a Tundra, wait until the '07 comes out. The dash design is MUCH better and not gay looking.

no decioin made yet, and yes on the tundra comment....current dash is gay

to thoughts here, my idea was to get a truck and finace about 1/2 of it, before I just wanted a work truck just a single cab long bed hd with a 6.0 an 03 goes for around 9-12 grand here.

I have a serious issue with getting a newer diesel and having a 600 dollar or more payment for 5 or 6 years. im not sure, anyways had to leave the stealership as my mom wrecked her bran new maxima yesterday shes pretty upset and messed up right now :(

i am going back tonight at 6pm, I have an amount I want to spend, and an amount of cash or trade I want to use, if they cant do it they way I want I aint buying period.

Was dreaming the other day, and a bare bones 6.0 2500HD, just A/C and 4wd and the tow package was around 26k plus there is a $4000 instant cash on those models. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

if its gonna tow, I'd go desiel... if not, a taco or tundra would be fine. I wouldn't buy a big truck unless it was for towing. Small trucks can be work trucks just fine in most cases unless you need to haul plywood or sheetrock or something else biiiig.

My little POS '94 2wd supercab Ford Ranger hauled my ff14b and D60 a few hundred miles... so its not like little trucks can't haul stuff around. Way better mpg when unloaded too.

If it is at all possible, I'd spend the extra money for a diesel, even if it's a plain-jane regular cab. If you drive it a lot the fuel savings will cover the extra money over the life of the loan. An even better reason, IMO, is resale value. In a couple of years when you want to sell it, and it has 200K on it, who is going to want the gasser? The diesel will still fetch a premium. If your keeping it longer than that, why would you want the gasser to begin with? That being said, the 6.0 is a great engine and would be about $8000 cheaper, which will probably work out to a little over a hundred bucks a month. The Tundra is the best 1/2 ton truck on the market, and drives like a Lexus. If your going to be towing stuff though, especially in the mountains, youre going to want more truck.

I went to the fleet department..

2007 2500hd 6.0, auto, locked rear axle, white work truck, also got to keep my weld rims at 285 bfg all terrains in the deal..:D

    list just under 24000

after cash down, trade and rebate I had to finace just over 8000 @ 17.75

tomarow I will go to my credit union, and take their loan offer at 7.5 percent have them pay it off,

payment just over 100 bucks, I feel like I did just fine, however there went the money for my buggy since I used it for my down:doah:

on top of this I got a 500.00 gift card to use towards the truck "for truck parts from fleet" since I put it under my business licence, the 500.00 go towards "work uses" I asked if tinted windows..and a hitch would work..yup! I may just roll that into maint or oil changes though I dont know,

the burb had the following issues
-dead ball joints/ maybe front right a-arm
-bad torque converter, lost coasting gear
-the turn signal click thingy was non stop..
    -140,000 slight miss
-bad whine on ring and pinion, slight clunk getting more evedent
-leather was cracking in both front seats
    -2 speakers no worky
-rear air comp was dead or dying,
    -small tick from motor, lifters?
    -slight smoke at start up/rings
    -bent rear spings
-damage to passenger from hit an run
-rear barn doors had shot hinges
    -t-case had bad seal
-t-case had bad bearing or was on its way to death, crunhy noise while drivin
-front bumper dead from sister hitting it
    -grill dead "see sister"
    -light covers, see sister"
-rocker damage as a result of truck being equipped with 4x4.. "see driver"
    -needed cat converter
-motor started to make bad knock at start up last 3 days..
-tranny has slipped a few times
-right rear wheel cylender recently started leaking
-front right pulled from time to time and abs light would come and go..new brakes and new sensor never curred it

I noted all these and decided I didnt want to work on it, and I sure didnt want to spent the money or time and headach to go through the whole truck and do body work...so I said the hell with it :) truck did me fine, but was not great to work out of and did not look prof. at all...plus that grinding sound was yucky and only getting worse..and I got what I wanted to boot:thumb:

    plans for the new truck
    -cat back,
    -chip,
    -air intake
    -leveling kit for front
-trim fron plastic to clear the 285's....... hehe
-maybe paint the plastic to match the truck
    -window tint
    -keyless entry and alarm
-aftermarket locking security console to protect paperwork for business

I like helping people , but lets all change the tires on a lift at the tire shop instead of Arby's parking lot next time :wink1:

No . He got like 3500 . He put down like 10.5 cash . And there was a rebate on the truck , I come up with 2k in that looking at his figures . So he owes like 8k now . His bank will refi at a lower % , and drop his payments on the balance .

    So 24k-2k-3.5k-10.5k = 8k owed

Didn't do so bad on a credit builder first time buyer thingy . But he could of gotten them to go lower on the truck with so much cash down . Maybe down to under 20k to begin with .
