Yeah, gambling and getting liquored up is a given. I want some suggestions for the must-see/must-do things in and around Las Vegas. The only "definite" thing I have in mind right now is renting a car one day and checking out the Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon. I'm game for just about anything.

<font color=blue> try and do most of your gambling on Friday and Monday .... the machines are typically looser on those days for these reasons .... Friday - they want you to win early so you feel lucky and continue trying to win again ..... Monday - they want you to come back, so if they make you win a bit as you're leaving, you'll be more apt to return .... Also, watch yourself ! There are tons of pick pockets and other cheats out there ..... be very sure of what's going on around you ! Have fun and good luck !

This time of year a couple of gallons of sunscreen is a safe bet! I agree with the roller coasters, The Manhattan Express is a gas, and the one at the Sahara ( I think) Also check out the water park. We had a coupon that saved us some major bank. It was more than 1/2 of the total price. Hit the buffet at the MGM, it's awesome.

I don't think the dam is open except for traffic. The tourist area is still shut down. You may want to call about that. It is incredible.

Do all of the hotels/resorts give you the same coupons, or do you have to play high school treasure hunt and go scavenging the different places for the ones you want?
I definitely want to catch a magic show or a cool stage show (like Blue Man). Les Claypool's Frog Brigade plays on the 31st. I am soooooo there.

Oh yeah, just remembered. Are there any cool ghost/mining towns out there? I think we're planning on going to Hoover Dam in the morning and then head over to Red Rock Canyon in the afternoon. Can we fit anything else into that one day schedule?

I use to date a pit boss at a casino in Reno. If you are going to spend some real cash gambling, you will want to get a card from the casino with the magnetic strip. They do use it for keeping track of what you are up to, but so what...

If you are racking up the $$ by spending, that is how they notice and will start handing you free tickets for all sorts of stuff. When you are done, you can ask for a record of your winnings/losses for tax purposes. This is all done by using the cards though.

You could drop $50,000 in a casino in an hour, and they won't give you anything for it unless you have that card and are using it.

Gotta hit the roller coasters ... The best ones I think are the New York,NY. Also the one at the Nascar joint. The stratisphere coaster is pretty weak, but the hot shot one is pretty badass. Also gotta hit the following casino's:
    New York, New York
    MGM
Circus Circus (if you have kids)
    Paris
Hard Rock was one of my fav's..

A radio station is giving away a trip there.. I told my wife I was gona sign her brother up and she says sign yourself up too. Funny after I showed her the web site she changed her mind.

She did get a kick out of the package deals.. Is that 18 holes of golf or 19 or 20...or 21 /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif for $295 (includes the nights stay in town)

wow looks like every body else likes my town more than me. if it were me, i'd avoid the strip for the most part, the roller coasters are cool but that's about it. there's NOTHING to do in this town if you're a local under 21 yrs old. this place sucks.

Hit the "Spearmint Rhino" nice place and I had better luck downtown at the Horseshoe, $2 blackjack from a single deck started out with $20 left with over $200. Had a great time!
Just went there in Feb. Went to the "La Femme" show, now THAT was nice!
Not really sure what your looking for though.
Just beware of the card "flippers on the strip and the guy's offering a "free" show, they want to sell you a timeshare or something and they want you to give them money upfront!
    Had a blast though!

If you go by the Imperial Palace, which you will because it's dead center strip, stop in and see their auto collection. Even though it costs about $7, coupons for free admission are readily available everywhere, including the casino lobby. There are probably over 100 classic cars on display and when I checked it out last week, they had an awesome '82 Blazer. It was a 2wd but man was it clean. You could eat off that truck!
