To any of you that into fishing, just wanted to announce I caught a 701.4 pound Black Marlin in Barra, Mexico last week. Beat a 10 year old town record by 150 pounds. Took 5.5 hours to drag it it. It was a big fish. Im tickled pink with myself, and will be going down again next year over new years. I dont know how to post pics, otherwise I would.

NICE :pimp: How many people were pulling on it with you for those 5.5 hours? 30 mi utes is the longest I've had to deal with a fish and that was long enough

I took turns with my buddy in the shot. We would each go 30 min, and then let the boat work the fish for 30 or so. No way I could have done it by myself with the equipment we had on board. No fighting chair, etc. We were actually fishing for Mahi Mahi and only had one long line out. BINGO. Dumb luck really. The boat and captain did most of the work chasing the fish around.

I gave all of the meat to the townspeople in Barra (the poor ones). Had a guy offer me $1300 for the meat, but the capt. said it would be "good karma" to give the meat to the poor. I kept the bill and the tail as a prize. I live in a tiny house, so I dont really have room for that thing on my wall. It was cool, thanks for the comments. Sincerely, Bragadocious.

Well, its not a conspiracy theory or anything. They did not have a scale big enough for the fish, so they used the following formula adopted by the IFGA. Length x Girth squared divided by 800. Came up with the weight that way. Might be off a pound or two, so we will call it an even 700 pounds. Details, Details.

Damn nice fish. I have never caught a fish that weighs three times as much as me. I'm guessing that the townspeople had one hell of a fish fry. Good call on that by the way.
