In the morning I'm getting on a plane for India for about 3 weeks. Why? To get some medical treatment done at a much cheaper price than the states. I need to get a hip replaced and no insurance so its this so I can walk again. Will take lots of pics but I don't know what of......

I don't know a whole lot about India's medical quality (all their doctors are over here), but good luck man :waytogo:

I just read a big schpiel in a magazine aboot how this is getting to be more common, because there isn't such an extreme profit margin in India, and the care is around the same quality.

    Good luck!

Good luck hope all goes well. I keep hearing that "medical tourism" is going to be the way of the future.

Hey think about it guys, ever go to the hospital for a big procedure or see soemone do it? In my experience all the BIG doctors are foreign in origin... The hip guy my former boss went to in Philadelphia is suppossedly the best in the area, hes not from America. Can't remember where he is from off the top of my head...

Still not sure I'd fly to India for surgery from a guy I couldn't understand but hey whatever, good luck.

My PCP is a indian lady, or maybe hindu, is there a differnce? I dont know but she is really good either way and all the specialist she has reffered me to have been indian and they seem quite competent. In fact Im going for surgery in a few weeks and the guy taking the plate out of my shoulder is indian, apparently he has been one of the first people since 1999 doing replacement vertebrate made of plastic in peoples spine. :eek1: Good luck with your surgery over there, seems alot of people are starting to do this. Maybe our medical can be a little more competitive as a result because right now its ridiculous. Last year I didnt have insurance and I had to pay for that plate to go in, it wasnt cheap.
