The origional is playing on Speed channel right now. OH Elenore!!!
nice, iv never seen it so im going to turn it on
Ive got it on DVD
Man do they ever beat the hell out of that mustang!!! No fancy editing or 'replacement' cars either...
The end was good. He swapped it out at the Car wash. Real Smooth. I liked it when the lady saw her car come through and passed out.
Did ya watch any of the credits? They show "eleanor" later on at some race track. There was stuff written all over it and I believe it was the producer that was doing smoky burnouts and donuts in it. No question it was the same car from the movie...
Ya in the dvd it shows, the main guy in the movie is the producer. It was a private made movie they put Eleanor on a trailer and took it around to opening nights at theaters to atrack people
as soon as I saw this post I ran back to my room to watch it cause I had never seen the original. watched about 30 minutes and got up to go to the bathroom. when I came back my roommate had shown up with 3 other people and had started watching a movie. I guess Im too nice cause I let em watch it. guess Ill have to go rent it cause what I saw was pretty good.
Well the first half of the movie is actually pretty much crap. Even by early 70's standards the acting etc etc was really piss poor...
However, the last 40 minutes is all Mustang chase and IMO is the car chase all others are measured against. Seeing the 'stang hit that pole trying to come off the freeway is brutal...
Hmmm, apparently a lot of the trivia I had heard about this movie is pretty much true. An example is the light pole sequence. A stunt driver missed his 'mark' causing HR Halicki to end up hitting the pole at 100 mph. This was not intended and Halicki was hurt...but they left it in the movie.
Halicki compressed 10 vertabrae in the jump scene...got 30 feet high and sailed 128 feet.
pssshhh. That's I get to work every morning! In a Chevette.
I caught the last about 30 minutes. Pretty cool. I will have to keep an eye out for it again!!!
I watched it last night, Holy crap was there alot of damage in that last chase. It lasted forever too. My favorite part is when they were in the caddy dealer they said he couldn't get out and he just kicked it sideways and bumped the police car out of the way and took off real smooth like. I also thought to myself hmmm I wonder if any of them caddys have a 500 in em?
