I found a guy that is willing to sell me a 14bff with 4.56 gears for $325? Is this a decent deal or should I look elsewhere? It is rebuilt and has new brakes on it...Let me know gang...

    Thanks a bunch...

Sounds a little high for around here, but with those gears Id pay that for it. I can buy them with 3.73's for as low as $100 but it would cost alot more to get the 4.56's.

Take a good look at it and make sure it is really rebuilt. If it is, and 4.56's are what you want I'd say ya, it's a good deal [IMG]

I would say for the 4.56 ratio, that is a good buy. The cheaper prices you keep hearing everybody saying that they got theirs for $100 or so, the MAJORITY of those rears have 3.73 or 4.10 gears.
4.56 gears are a little harder to find, so, that price would be fair for it.
Just make sure it's the 4.56 ratio. If you pop the cover off and find it to be a 4.10 ratio, you paid too much for the rear then. [IMG]

If it has an open diff, 4.56s, and brand new brakes, I'd pay that for it.

For a stock one out of a truck, I wouldn't pay a penny over $100 for it.

depends on its condition I guess. Lots of peeps here on CK5 have got $100 ff14b and then rebuilt them themselves into perfect axles. On the other end of the spectrum, some professionally built ones cost mad cash ($1500? yikes!). Personally, I am in the middle of that spectrum... I got a new-in-crate 4.56 geared one for $700-ish. To each thier own I guess. I am not an axle pro...and a new...totally straight and wear-less axle was a good deal. =)

I got a D44 3/4 front and a 14FF rear both with 4.56 (stock GM gears) and shot brakes for $400 from k10Andy. 4.56 gears arn't easy to find so it would be worth it.

Buy it Chris. If you need help moving it give me a call. I just picked up a 3.73 14bff for $200, but 4.56 gears are going to cost me another $200 so that axle is a good deal. I don't have anything to do this weekend. Let me know if you need any help.
