my wife and I really like sitting by a fire... thats one of the best things about camping. My mom, knowing this, bought me a cool little made-in-china firepit for our yard. We went to Home Depot and for less than $15 got everything we'd need to make a cool (and safe) little pit. Here is what we got...

basic stuff, red concrete "tree ring" trim, casoron grass killer, anti-grass mat, and 3 forty pound bags of gravel. Then we found the perfect spot... not to close to the foilage, not to far from the house...

With just the right spot picked out, we used a shovel to mark the boundries of where we wanted the conrete edging stuff to go and started diggin out the sides...

Once that was done, my wife worked the hoe...

 :cool1: With the digging done, we mocked up the edges of the pit...

To make sure the grass didn't try to grow back under the pit, we poured some casaron anti-grass killing stuff on the bare dirt, and then covered the dirt with this anti-vegetation mat stuff. Another sprinkling of casaron on top of that it Im pretty sure nothing green will ever grow there again. ;) With that done, we poured in the bags of gravel...

from there, it was just a matter of smoothing the gravel out a bit and setting the actual firepit inside...

all done! now when we wanna have good times by the fire, all we need to do is bring some wood, a bucket of water, some adult beverages and our cool camp chairs. woohoo! :cool1:
