Goodyear releasing a 40\" MT/R

yikes, saw this in the new 4 wheeler. 40x13.50x17 I think. Think they are making a bid for the big-off-road-tire title?!?! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif the MTR is unquestionably a great tire.

Yawn... /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Old news. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif There was a big discussion about this recently. But no one has seen a price for them yet. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Perfect for rockcrawling though. You dont want a wide tire in big rocks. Something really tall and narrow is the key.

i would want something a bit thicker than that. On a Full Size rig, the lateral stability would help, plus keep some of those rocks away with the extra width.

I agree, the 39.5x15x15 TSL is a great tire for rocks and stuff...13.5 wide even looks narrow on that Wrangler./forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

What about the BFG Krawler? They are coming out with a 39.5 tall tire this spring, but what about the width, anybody know?

I want to go with a 39.5-40" tire size, just dont know what to consider for my DD...hhhhmmmm, just if those MTR's were 14.5-15"s wide /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

As for the tire, I like just a bit wider, but it might be just fine, never tried. <shrug> I'm very happy with my 42x15 TSLs, seems almost perfect for rock crawling, 44x18s are just WAY too wide. Biggest problem I have with the MTRs is the side walls aren't nearly as strong as the TSLs. Better traction, or so I hear, but I've heard way to many tails of ripped side walls...
