    Got a \"new\" radio w/??.

A guy @ work gave me a Xtal ssb/am cb trannsceiver 23 am channels/46 ssb modes, FCC data: xssb-10. That's what it says on the tag. Anybody got any idea how to tune it up? "The guy" is a radiohead and says if he had a schematic, he could get more power out of it. Thanks, Tom.

If he was a REAL "radiohead" he wouldn't need a schematic.

can't help much with data for that radio given the info you have.

"Xtal" is the brand. looks kinda old, plus only 23 am channels. Says it's made in Japan. I've looked on other cb web pages but couldn't find Xtal listed anywhere.

google is the master of all Answers, and so far, the only answers I get from it are that Xtal is an adjustment of some sorts on radio's.... specificaly, in some Modification forumla's

SSB is cool tho... does it have both upper and lower sidebands? basicaly, SSB splits the carrier, and transmits only on the upper half of the wave, or lower half of the wave... it requires less power to go farther, and allows you to turn the stock 40 CB channels into 120 channels. you can hear SSB conversations over the regular bands, but people using them tend to sound like Donald duck on either helium, or crack depending on if they're on USB or LSB.
