Yep, I was cruising down the road in my Blazer, had to stop quick for the guy in front of me, seems he made a last minute decision to turn left. Well, stopped with maybe 12 inches between us when WHACK! A 94' fullsize ford truck nailed me from behind. This caused me to slide into the guy in front of me. I got out to survey the damage. My truck nailed the guy in front. Broken tailights, smashed trunk and bumper. My trucks bumper hit his, and sort of slid up and took out all that other stuff. I honestly had a hard time finding a scratch on my bumper. Nothing else hit on the front of my truck.:)
The rear didn't handle it quite so well. I've got a bal hitch that sticks out the back, and the ford smacked that, which pushed demolished his bumper. Hitting my hitch twisted my bumper quite a bit, and that panel between the bumper and the tailgate. The right side of the bumper is sticking up a little bit, so I hope the frame isn't bent. For being in the middle of a sandwhich, my vehicle surely took the least amount of damage.
I really hope the frame is OK. I'll go out and take a pic of the bumper soon and post it. Wish I had my digital camera with me to show you guys the other folks vehicles. Noone was hurt, although my neck is really feeling weird. Cops came, everybody was legal and had insurance. The guy behind me got a ticket.
So, thats my day, hope everybody elses was better:/.

Looks like I'll be at least getting a new bumper out of this deal, my old one was sorta rusty:).

You should have your neck looked at, whiplash can take a few days and last damn near forever. My wife got rear-ended about 15 years ago and her neck has never been the same. Unfortunately she signed all the release forms before her neck got bad [IMG]At least have a doctor look at it, then its on your medical file that there was an injury from the accident.

Glad that you are alright. I would definitely have that neck checked out. A friend's dad got rearended a while ago. His next was hurting him, so they checked it out at a chiropractor and said it was fine. His neck kept hurting so he went to the hospital that night and they xrayed and saw that his neck was broken! He got extremely lucky

Can't stress enough about getting checked out by a real doc. My parents were rear ended back in 1962 - my mom's back and neck were NEVER the same. She STILL complains that her neck and back hurt. She's had numerous operations at the Mayo Clinic, but ....well - you get my drift. Oh yeah - the arthritis sets in after a while, then every time it rains or the temperature drops, PAIN CITY!!!

    I hope these pics work.
Take a look at how my bumper is bent, what other damage do you think occurred? And don't laugh at my body work, we where in the middle of doing it:).

Looking at the center two sets of bolts on that rear one, the mounts for the bumper to frame (81 up has this, not sure about the older bumpers like yours) look bent. They bolt straight to the frame on the later ones, so if they get bent....the outside edges I wouldn't be too worried about, the braces that reach out there aren't real strong. I'd be looking under the truck at the body mount bolts and see if they are still straight up and down. Since the frames are relatively flimsy, once the bumper comes off, the bolts may line up again.

Yours is worse but my '86 had the bumper curl up like that too. Though I had the guy go under the right side of the bumper.

The posts are right about getting checked yourself. Go to an Orthopedic. Claim Adjusters get nervous / defenseive when you go to a Chiropractic, plus the Orthopedic is the best for that kind of injury anyway.

I'd also check the bumper braces and brackets as someone else mentioned.

Good Luck & glad everyone was ok.[IMG]

Frame is bent for sure. the question is how bad. Looking at the bumper there are 8 bolts. the center 4 are right to the frame horns. The right side is bent down. If it's right at the end it should be no big deal. Good frame man will fix it in about an hour.

Man, that guy sure did tear up that rear bumper! Hope the damage isn't too bad. At least it was the other guy's fault and you won't have to pay for it. Hey moe, you listen to Phish? I saw the PH sticker on your truck.

Yep, one of my favorite bands.
I've been thinking that dealing with the adjuster might be tricky. I wonder how far I can push them for damages, yet not have them just total it out. Just by looking at it, it definately doesn't deserve to be junked, which I really don't want. I'd like to get as much cash out of them as I can (I've got friends at body shops that can help me out with an estimate and all that stuff).
    Thanks guys.
I sure am glad that hitch was there sticking out like that. As many times as I've whacked my shin on it walking by. I can imagine how bad my tailgate would look if it wasn't.

That's cool, they are one of my favorites too. Too bad they are breaking up for a while. I think that since it wasn't your fault you are allowed to take your truck to any body shop you want to. Just have them jack up the price a little and you can get more from the insurance company. I had a friend with a 95 Camaro that got rearended a week after he bought the car. He didn't want the paint to not match since he had just bought it, so he got a friend to jack up the price and got the whole car painted along with the damage repaired.
