I'd take it back to the shop and make them fix it. Sounds like they got a wire trapped between 2 parts somewhere and grounded it. Turning on the power blew the fuse.

Looks like they hooked the Illumination light on the back of the deck wrong. It probably ground the system out when you turned on the lights and that is why it blew the fuse. Try replacing the fuse and un hook the deck and turn on the lights and see if it blows. Hope that makes sense

I did that when I hooked up my stereo.. I figured the brown wire was a ground.. It isn't it is for the stock stereo lights.. When you turn on your lights a light in the stereo comes on.. Just found a ground and that fixed the problem..

I'd make them clip out all their added in crap, fix your wires they tampered with, and hand them some accessory plugs from another vehicle, (wrecked, similar vintage GM) so the radio can just be plugged into the fuse panel.

I think that the brake lights have their own fuse, and the tail lights share the fuse that powers the dash.

Get in there, undo everything they have done, and make sure it gets done right.

If they just messed around behind the radio, then it should be pretty apparent what all is connected to the radio, and what needs to be removed.

And if you replace the fuse and turn on your lights POP! When replacing your factory stereo theres an brown wire that goes to yoour head light switch, it looks black but the book says its brown, with your power wire cluster. Disconect it and taped it, theres a SMALL black wire in a different cluster, going to your stereo night lights, connect that wire your ground. replace your fuse and turn it up /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
