I just ran into the lunchroom for coffee here at one of my sites and heard two of my co-workers sitting there talking about the passengers on the planes on 9/11, and what they may have been thinking. I asked how they felt about the gun control in New York, and they were like "Not enough of it!" I was pretty shocked, I was like, "how the heck can you be against what may be the only thing to keep you alive one day??" They were just kind of against it, didn't seem well thought out to me... I brought up Colin Ferguson (LIRR shooter a couple years ago, on the railroad that all three of us ride everyday), and how if another passenger had been armed, maybe Colin wouldn't have killed so many people or been able to reload 2x. Then they said, "yeah but how many MORE people could've died because a passenger didn't know how to use his gun". Well, damn, I'm not saying just go buy a gun and walk around with it. I'm saying legalize carrying with lotsa training and practice! Like some kind of certification to carry, tests or training to pass, not just handing out guns!

But walking out of the room was kinda wierd. Luckily, the guy that I'm kinda more friends with said as I was leaving "think of so and so with a gun. You sure you're pro carry with that thought??" So we all parted ways laughing, but I'm thinking geez, I thought these were much more informed people!!

I'm making myself look like more of a redneck in front of these people everyday I guess....

On an interesting side-note, the guy that seemed so anti-gun is pro-legalize pot. I wonder what GreenBlazer-az's thoughts on gun control are...

I think you handled that situation well. I like to remind people like that of some very famous people who convinced the masses that gun control was the only way to be safe: Hitler and Stallin. We all know were that went. Unfortunately mankind does not learn well from history.

As far as being a redneck, what's wrong with that??? Blk87K5 and I had dinner, bolgna sandwiches, while watching FourWheeler TV. My roomate called it a redneck picnic. There is nothing wrong with being a redneck!

The people in Germany in 1939 kept their mouth shut. Guess what happened? I talk
until I'm blue (Hmmm - corralation here) in the face with these people who honestly
believe that the police will actually PROTECT them. Of course, that attitude decreases
the further out of NYC you get (westward - not Conn. etc) but you knew that (I
hope). Keep preaching the RIGHT to keep and bear arms, man. The anti's have told
so many lies so often and the freakin media keeps printing them that a good portion
of the people in this country actually believe that the police WILL protect them - AND -
"if just one child is saved".... Don't get me started on that one.

Oh yeah, Ratch - bought a little 9mm conceal carry piece last night (second one - I
know...) Went to the range tonight and ran about 80 rounds through it. NICE !!! PM
me for more info (if ya want). /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I agree with you totally on gun control.

BTW, my wife calls me a "Northern Redneck". Says I've been in the South long enough now that I've been heavily influenced. So what if I drive a Trans Am, watch Dukes of Hazzard, and just bought a cowboy hat to wear while I'm driving the Trans Am? Burt Reynolds had one, right? Haha.

It seams there are different definitions for the word (REDNECK) I think Jeff Foxworthy's "You might be a Redneck" skits sums it up pretty good. For me it's that guy in a cowboy hat driving a Furd Escort blasting country music on the stock radio. /forums/images/icons/blush.gif
