Or more specifically how do you remove it?
Is it a C shaped clip that holds it in?
it is just pressed in. sometimes there is a clip like on a 350 but never seen one one a 700r4. just stick a screwdriver in there and pry it out. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
Let's just clear this up...you're talking about the governor and not the servo, correct?
The servo is held in with an outer clip (similar to that holding your locking hubs inside your hub).
It's a round cover about 3" diameter. I got the clip out of it but stuck. IF that isn't the govenor what is? Transmission shop I talked to said that is the govenor and to check and see if it is stripped or the weights are stuck. Something like weights in the distributor the fling out as it spins?? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
the cover in this pic is the governer. it is on the driver side toward the rear.
the red cover in this pic is the servo. it has a snap ring holding it on it is on the pass side
Well, sun of a ______ I guess I was going after the wrong cover. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
This is what a stripped govner looks like.
Looking like this it prevents the trans from shifting out of 1st.
