Hughes is going to teach this Brazilian goofball a lesson. In my opinion, and I've been watching UFC since day one, the sport has evolved beyond Gracie's day. His style WAS dominant, when he was fighting one-dimensional fighters. The UFC of today is much different, and Hughes exemplifies the evolution of mixed martial arts fighters. I say Hughes by TKO in the 2nd round.

I always thought most of the fights with Gracie were fixed in an effort to boost his family image and make them money . Hughes look's alot stronger and he seems to have the brawling skill down . I think he will beat Gracie really quick .

So is everyone just kinda writing Gracie off? Not me. Some of his fights ended so quick that me, his opponent and everyone in the building was left wondering WTF just happened. I agree that Hughes is the more rounded fighter and much better overall striker. I'm still giving Gracie a 50% chance of winning. Then again, he could get knocked out in 15 seconds. Can't wait to find out.

The nature of MMA means ANYBODY can get lucky, and Gracie has mucho skills to get lucky with. He has a chance for sure, but if Hughes fights a solid fight, mistake free, he'll smoke Gracie.

Hughes is bad ass but no Im not going to write Gracie off either. Hughes SHOULD win and probably will, but if Gracie does pull off a win it WILL be a huge upset. even though this is not toughted at a "Tital Fight" I think if Hughes looses he should have too give the belt to Gracie. I dont think there should be untitaled fights if your champ. if you loose, you loose your belt too. its not like Gracie has not fought since ufc 5 which I think was his last ufc he fought in. he fought in japan for along time after that too.

    we will see.

yeah with Gracie's submission ability, you can't write him off. If Hughes makes a mistake, Gracie can capitalize on it. I think that Hughes has submission down just as well and is a much better striker. I don't think it will last long, it could, but I really don't think it it will.

I think that who ever makes a major mustack is going to loose.... Both are great fighters... Gracie is bad a$$, so is Hughes... They both have great stand up skills... both have great graphiling skills... both can ground and pound... Gracie is more for waiting and letting his apponent make a mastake and pouncing on it... Hughes likes to overwhelme his apponent... get them flusted and then pounce... I would say that it anyones game... Yes the UFC has evolved, so has Gracie, but if I had to say who I thought would win I would have to put my money on Hughes...

fights start in about 15 min. here on the west coast. Hughes SHOULD win this fight but I do hope Gracie wins since he is the underdog, the "old" guy and a home town Torrance boy. I grew up in Torrance and I drive be his training camp all the time. they train kids at their camp and we are thinking of getting lessons for our son there. its right down the street from my work.
