    Grade 8\'s for spring bolts?

Are grade 8 bolts strong enough to be used as spring eye bolts or do I have to purchase specific bolts? Thanks.

I think grade 5 is what is stock, and I'm reasonably sure the ORD greasables are Grade 8. I used grade 8 for mine...

I'm using grade 8's everytime I install a lift. Matter of fact, brand new grade 8 bolts are one of the items I purchase before doing a lift.

Most of the time when removing the stock spring bolts, they will get damaged beyond reuse.
I find it way easier to just use new bolts and stronger ones, too. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

The factory bolts on my 89 are grade 8. The ORD shackles use grade 5 main spring eye bolt and grade 8 shackle and rear spring eye bolts. I don't know about other years but this is what is on my 89 anyway.

Yo tRusty, The factory spring eye bolts on my '76 were also grade 8. I know be'cause I hit'em with a grinder and could tell from the sparks.
