I was price shopping on the Eldo rear calipers for a 14 bolt. Autozone wanted $150 for both plus a $140 core!

    I checked Hi-Lo O'Reilly. They are only $56.99 plus a $15 core, each.

Just wanted to pass the word along...

By loaded, I assume you mean with brake pads??

They do not come with brake pads, but I bought a set, Albany brand, from Autozone for $17.99 for 4 pads, enough for left and right.

I am supposed to be picking them up after 5:30pm (shipped them from the downtown Houston location to my local location.) I'll see if they have a brand or anything on the box.

Do you know if they are coming with the e-brake lever and return spring?

I went to go get them and....

    no lever or spring...

I ended up returning them since I can't use them.

Can a little spring and lever really be that expensive???

It doesn't look like a lot. All it was missing was the spring and the lever. A similar spring could be located fairly easily.
As far as the lever, it looks like you'd drill a hole in a piece of metal, use a torch to make a lazy S bend in the lever, and then make a place at the other end of the lever for a parking brake cable to attach.

    Hmmm....

Can you put this little contraption on a 3/4 ton GMC front caliper in order to run Ebrake?

The eldo caliper has a threaded rod that sticks out of the side of the caliper and is what the nut on the lever in the picture above bolts to.
The gm front calipers don't have that.

[/ QUOTE ] Are you sure you asked for the 76-78 rear caliper for an Eldorado? That sounds like the price for the later model caliper, which is MUCH easier to find.

I don't think that any of them come with those 2 parts. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif And GM discontinued the lever many years ago. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif That little lever is made out of some VERY strong steel. I don't think you could make one out of mild steel that wouldn't bend when the brake was set. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

This might seem a little dishonest but, how manny parts guys at autozone type places even look to make sure you have the proper part for a core? The autozone places around here have mostly part time employees who could care less about this sort of thing. I'm sure you could pass off a set truck calipers or some other application for a core.
