Sup all, Got a hotel tonight that has a wireless internet connection, so I'm sitting here in the lobby in Rapid City checking my email.

We basically left Indiana and headed to South Dakota Stopping for the night in Counsil Bluffs, Iowa. Once we go to SD we checked out the classic car museum, the corn palace, Cabelas (in Mitchell where we crashed the second night), Deadwood/Lead (where we crashed last night), then up to Mount Rushmore, Sturgis, The Black Hills, Keystone, several Scenic routes and then Tonight (Sunday, early monday morning) we stopped here at Rapid City for dinner and decided to stay the night and are heading back home to Indiana in the morning. Again Route unknown, We left home Thursday with the intent of going to the mall of america and we ended up at mount rushmore but we might hit the big mall Monday day or Tuesday morning.
Alot of driving, All I got to say is you folks that live in SD are Brave soals! Man, at 80MPH it like 45min to an hour between towns, with the rairoad track roads... bumpbumpbump... /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif It is very nice out here though. I could see me living around if I had a fast car to got some fplace to place.
The 97 Yukon is getting about 19.5MPG so we have only filled up a half a dozon times so its making for a fairly inexpensive trip (well minus the gift shops and souviner shops). Speaking of Money! I walked into a casino in Deadwood and dropped about $20 in quarters into a machine then I started it hitting it!!! /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif That machine loved me, I hit several $40 pots, then a $75 pot and then another... After tips for drinks and playing for about an hour and half I cashed out $70 in quarters with a FREE 6 pack of amber bock in my belly and a free RootBeer Float /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Anyhow, I'm having fun out here, thought since I had internet here I'd post up and say hi, check my PM's and a couple posts. I might jump back on in the morning before we leave... What are some more cool spots between South Dakota and Indiana /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

    Later All
    J

(PS I WILL HAVE PICS UP WHEN WE GET HOME! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif, I dont have my FTP program on the laptop)

Sence you're in Rapid, if you want too meet up for breakfast, let me know. 787-6804 If you haven't picked a route home yet, I recomend going down to Hot Springs too see the Mammoth Site. Worth seeing in my honest opinion.

Cool deal, I'll see what kind of rush we are in, in the morning, I may give you call. We are at Exit 59 at one of the INNs.

I'll check the map and see where Hot Springs is and what routes home from there.

[/ QUOTE ] Hot Springs - Take Hwy. 79 South. From there you could go futher south into Ne. and take I80 home. Just a thought.

Well [censored], the beds here where actually comfortable so I overslept. We are in the lobby now eating some grub then we are going to jump back on the road about 10-10:15. I think we are going to Jump back on 90west and take it straight over instead taking 29 south into Iowa. So we should be going through MN and WI on the way home.

Sorry I didn't get to meet up with ya paul, we'll be here for another half hour or so till we get packed up /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Yeap, Old Dave (The owner) is a Furd nut. He hadn't got "Elenore" yet when I bought the El Camino, (He called it "Elly", I don't) but he was talking about it. Said it should be in, in a few days. He's a nice guy, kinda off alittle, but still a nice guy. The Pioneer Auto Museum is a pretty cool place. I try too stop every time I go by Murdo. Did you check out the 1880's town (20 miles west of Murdo on I90) at Midlands ??? I like the skeletons of the man walking the T-Rex you can see from I90.

We did pull off for gas there at the pierre exit, which I looked you up and you where 250miles from rapid city. We had to buzz out to get back home today. 2 days out seeing things, a day in Keystone/rapid city (then I got on the internet that night finally and hadn't had cell phone signal since we left Iowa), and 2 days back.

If anyones traveling through rapid city checkout AmericINN at exit 59 on I90 (has high speed wireless internet in the lobby) room 125, the beds are actually comfortable (not hard, didn't have a backache when I woke up) and the toilet goes WHOOOOSH /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

OH YEAH and several of the girls in the morning crew are hotties /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
One knocked on the door about 9:45 and said [david spades girlie voice] "HOUSE KEEPING!"... I about LOST IT /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

Anyhow, 2200 miles later, we left Indiana and took I65 north to I80 west, stayed in Counsil Bliffs, Iowa the first night, then over to Omaha, then took 29 north to 90 west and stayed in Mitchell, SD the second night, over to the badlands and took the scenic route -stopped at Wall Drug and got the free water, up to Sturgis and the Black Hills National forest, gambled in Deadwood and stayed the night in Lead, then over to Rushmore and drove the forests over there. On the way home we took I90east straight across Minnisoda and stayed in LaCrosse, WI. It costs about $6 to travel the last 100miles of I90 because of toll roads across the top of ILL and Indiana /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif, then good old I65 home!

Speaking of Toll Roads... WHY are they the shittiest roads to drive on /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif They are under constuction, totally tore up and holes, driving in the breakdown lane, backups and delays /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif
All the roads out and back with the exception of about 100miles of I90 right inside the SD state line all the roads where pretty good and we drove 75-80MPH the whole time! The first leg of I90 in South Dakota I thought the tires where going to explode, it was like driving on a railroad track for 100miles! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

No we did't stop by there, We stayed in Michell and buzzed up to the Badlands real quick the next morning, stopping by the Pioneer Museum for gas and a quickie tour. There's alot of cool things in there though /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
