    Welcome aboard!

Excellent choice on year (mine is identical)...looks like a very nice rig. Does it have the overhead console in it? I don't know what I did without that in my '82 Suburban.

Mine had running boards on it when I bought it as well...they were quickly dispatched. Makes you wonder what kind of people put those things on a 4X4... /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

My wife was not too happy when I took them off...

...she said she wouldn't drive it because it was too high and difficult to get into, aside from being way too big of a truck for her.

...hmmm...there is method to my madness after all!

Welcome aboard! It doesn't take too long to get used to driving one. It's sorta like driving a house at first... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I've got an "extra" set of running boards out in the garage also. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I have had my 90 3/4 4x4 burb a few months now and its kinda high, was thinking of the hoops instead of running boards. I think they look good, how bout you guys. /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

It all depends on its intended use. My 88 has 36s & a 4" lift. I plan on a 6" once I get the money, unless Santa Clause puts it under my tree. Anyway, As long as my wife isn't wearing a dress/skirt, she can get in @ 5'6". My lil 8 year old has trouble though. Another thought is the electronic steps that go down/up when you push a button. Well, just my $0.02.

Re: Guess I\'m one of the Burb crew now..............

Your kids have trouble getting in?? Try what my 8 & 9 year olds do...they climb up the lugs of the tires (44" Mud Countrys) to get in the back doors!! Also, my wife's '90 Sub is lifted 8" with 37" Hummer radials, she's 5'1" and gets in just fine, short leather skirt, dress, it doesn't matter!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Course she cheats cuz her Sub has Smittybilt nerf bars!!! /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

If you plan on wheeling it I would stay away from the hoops, they can get snagged and ripped off! If you absolutely need something to step on a heavyduty nerf bar might work or better yet a rock slider w/ stepping surface. I have never seen the electic retractible type but that might be an option. Of course needing four of them, that could get real expensive.

Very true about the hoops, they tend to get ripped off very easily. Here is a pic of my rock sliders, all i need left to do is put something on for a non-slip foot step...am thinking a piece of alum diamond plate /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have engineered a few "extras" into mine...

A 5.6" LCD screen fits in the aft section perfectly...and keeps the kids quiet on road trips (like the one to Carlsbad Caverns this past weekend)!

you've crossed the point of no return hahahaha!! welcome to the sub-culture! nice sub i want a 4L80E bad!!

jeff why don't you use grip tape like on skate boards, it's used all over in the heavy equipment industry cuz it's better than diamond plate or expanded sheet metal and cheaper too.
