I would like to hear from a few cops here what the policy is regarding drawing your weapon. When and where is it considered necessary for police to have their weapons drawn? I've had guns put to my head before by police and it aint fun. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

a 9 yr old with a gun is just as deadly as anyone else with a gun. the idea that kids cant be dangerous is a byproduct of our social training. "kids are innocent"... well, yeah, whatever. some guys in vietnam (and other places) found out different.

the kid with a gun thing I understand. They didn't know it was fake but when it was discovered it was fake maybe he should have been escorted home and given a good lecture but arresting him is a little extreme no?

disclaimer: i was raised different than anyone else in a lot of ways. my views are twisted, but work great for me.
the little punk should have been sent to jail for a night or 3. in his own cell with no physical contact from anybody else. i guarentee he would NEVER want to go back to jail. therefore he would keep his mind in a safer state.

as for the cops drawing thier weapons in school. hey, i would have if it was me. some of us remember columbine and thurston HS just to mention two off the top of my head. guns in school happen way more than most know about.

as a high schooler i was sent home many times for having my 10/22 in the window of my truck. i know i have taken a pistol to school a few times so i didnt have to go home to go shooting after school. the only difference is i had no plans to shoot anybody, nor did anybody know about it. it stayed locked up and hidden.

i think if a cop is in a school doing a drug search then his gun should be out. i know in washington state where i did most of my HS years we would have dealers on campus all the time getting arrested. with guns, and knives on them.

cops have to take the first move in thier protection. they didnt shoot anybody so its all fine.

if a kid cant handle seeing a person with a badge and a gun drawn for "emotional" reasons then the kid needs help to begin with. people see it almost every day. they will be fine.

I call BS. The principle and the the cops should all be fired. They found no drugs in this raid, and people can not go arbitrarily brandishing weopons for non apparant reasons. You can not go into a crowd of people assuming that someone is armed and threaten everyone. This was just an example of strong arm intimidation Nazi bullshit. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

Guns have a way of going off in the hands of idiots. Especially in the hands of excited idiots. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif If these guys can't handle a group of unarmed kids they should be filling orders of frenchfries.

well, like i said. my views are fukd up. the way i see it is there should be drug dogs at school any time it is in session. the only problem then is kids with allergies. but hey, most kids today are only at school a few hours anyway.

i defenetly dont think the firearsm were justifyed. I think the best way to do something like this is to simply show overwhelming force (just send in 10-15 officers fi its tha big a deal, that will intimidate kids planety).

dude look at the picture, the cop is prepared to shoot with 2 hands on the gun expecting someone to jump at him at any second. And yeah if the sight of a gun messes you up you have issues but if you react slowly to a man with a gun and he starts yelling at you while his attack dog is sniffing around you maybe thats a little more justified. And if you had allergies you would know a couple minutes is bad let alone a couple hours, animal dander has a way of lingering in an area. I had knives in school and gun once or twice in the truck but never had them with the intent of hurting anyone. Knives would be realizing half way through the day after I got back from hunting I left it in my bag. I lived in the sticks I guess, we had knives but they are useful tools, guns never saw one in school except in a holster on a cops belt where it belongs. And you never played with toy guns when you were little? ever occur to you that some paranoid f%$*ers would call the cops? never did to me I was just playing cops and robbers. One cop is enough to intimidate me. I have to deal with them on a daily basis, piss the wrong one off and your a target for getting pulled over and kicked out of hang outs. Cops know how to harrass too. Don't tell me they don't cause I'm friends with quite a few of the towns police officers and being on their good side they tell me stuff like how they are gonna bust some kid next time they see him do the slightest thing cause hes a dick.

I know this could become a hot debate, and at this point in time with terrorism scares it's hard to criticize any officials...

However, part of the reason that the constitution gives us the right to bare arms is to make the government think twice about busting in and doing unreasonable searches and seisures...

IMHO, this was an incredibly unreasonable search and seisure. If we let the government get away with just busting in with guns drawn any time they 'think' there 'might' be a problem, we'll be in worse shape than the Iraqis real quick.

/forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif All I can say is, if someone puts a gun to my kid's head in his/her school, that someone had better have something bigger/better to hide behind than a badge.

I believe that the vast majority of police are doing a great service protecting us, and that they use their power wisely and with good judgement. However, if we don't put a quick and harsh stop to those who do not use their power wisely... you decide where that would be headed...

    Grant-

I respect your right to your own opinion, and hopefully you will respect my right to disagree with you.

I am not a law enforcement official, and therefore itis difficult for me to see that side of the issue.

On the flip side, do you have kids? As a parent, I would ask you to imagine me busting into your child's school and putting a gun to his/her head when your child was guilt of nothing but attending school that day. Wouldn't your opinion be a little different?

i think it was appropriate. no kids were shot. but maybe some got the picture. i know there are drug dealers at my high school, i know that some of them talk a lot a sh!t and say they got guns and whatnot and how they'd shoot cops for stuff like that- i know tnhey don't and would love to see them held at gunpoint about to sh!t themselves because their parents are going to find out. i think those kids deserve it- everyone is ok, and no damage was done. "mental damage" my ass, it's a cop, if you don't have anything on you you have no reason to be scared. i would not mind being searched, and have beenbefore and don't mind. i right like it actually- it proves to them there are some good kids left and i am one of them and that i am not doing anything wrong. afterwards they should be fully convinced i'm not doing anything so there are no residual suspicions.

This country is getting really stupid sometimes. When I was a kid the number 1 game was cops and robbers or something of the sort. I used to take my cap gun to school all the time. Now kids r getting suspended for sticking out their index fingers and going BANG BANG. I cant believe it. Then the psystupidgist call them violent children and pump drungs in them. I hate hippy's
