Guys running 57\" rear sping help please.

I was wondering how you are running your rear shocks. I will be putting 57's in the rear of my 85 K5 soon. I cant go throw the floor cuz I need the cargo space for when we go camping. I also still need the use of my rear seat cuz my 20 month old son goes wheeling with us.
I was woundering if I could run my shocks angled like this /\.
    Thanks for all your help.

danny, i think MOO, misourri offroad outfitters has a setup available that bolts into place and lets you mount shocks like you want..

I think on the fordsa and running the shocks that way you'd have to run an anti wrap bar of some sort.

I was ging to run mine that way but with my exaust and anti wrap bar I don't have te rom so Mine are going off the spring plated to hoops on the frame. (7" of lift)

Danny, mine are inboarded that way and it works fine for flex and ride...but does nothing for axle wrap. I run the Az-kickin anti wrap bar so it's not that big a deal for me...but I will eventually run longer D-techs through the bed. I already have a rear seat from an S-10 that is going in place of the K5 seat.

the problem with inboarding the shocks is the more angle, the less dampening.

I'm running them through the bed. I could add a seat if i wanted too, but that would cut into beer storage.

    how much lift you running?
mine come off the spring plates an with a 2" body lift there was no need to go into the interior to fit the DT 8403's.

I've been running the stock setup with 8" lift shocks (I'm at about 6") with no porblems. Granted I dont get full droop but I feel that what I have now is all I need.

Keep in mind that I rally it pretty hard in the sand. I do 40 through the whoops getting air born and have not had any adverse effects with my shock setup.

    Cool thanks for the help.
I am going to be running the echobit 57" shackle flip with them. I am also thinking about just going with the GM 56's cuz there flexy but not as soft as the 57's. I will be putting a 2" add-a-leaf in the springs also so I can get my ride hight. I am woundering also with the add-a-leaf will it make the 57's harder to wrap my axle?

balzackks84 how short do you think you are from full droop. Also are your 57's stock or do you have a add-a-leaf in them. Are you still running your anti-wrap and if so how is it working for you?

No add-a-leaf, I've got some echobit shackles for the extra height. I'd say i was within 2 inches of full droop.
