half leafs?

    i saw this on monster garage with their terminator motorcycle rig i think it was?

    they cut the rear leaf spring in half...what would be the purpose of doing this?

    i did not see them on t.v. but have seen them in pics in mags the are called quarter ecliptal or some thing simmaler to old caraes aparently they give very good articulation, i saw them on a full size chev safari van i guy had done up in a mag and it had thm and it was maxing out the rams.

    they cut the leaves in half and then added coilovers if i recal corectly.
    the only reason was to keep the axle in one place. axle location. but then they kind of linked it.
    it was an odd setup,. but the guy building it said he does it on a lot of "race" trucks.
    i dunno. seemed to work ok to me.
