    Howdy all from Prescott, AZ
I purchaced a 91 K5 from a repo auction a couple of months ago for $3300 out the door. The Blazer had some irregularities, but the price seemed right.
The previous owner had swapped out the manual transmission for a really old TH350 with a converted 203 transfer case. These are in really crappy condition and leak like crazy.

I want this truck to be a daily driver as well as get me out to remote camping spots, so I think that I would like to change it over to a 700R4 tranny with a 241 transfer case. I like the idea of overdrive for economy. It has the shift lever for a 241 in it already.
I have done some research and found this conversion to be in the thousands of dollars. As a college student working part time, I need my truck in better running condition for not much bucks.
So far, I have spent about $3000 on little stuff for the truck.

Here is the main questions. Do I fix up the 350 and 203, or swap it for the newer driveline? Any ideas on how I can do this for the least money? Is the truck worth all of this effort, or should I sell it and get one that is in better working order?

    Thanks for your comments.

91 Blazer, lifted, beat to snot by previous owner, makin' it new again. TH350, NP203, 5.7L, Dual Exh, No Cats, Sounds like crap but runs like hell.

just go to a junk yard and find one with the 700 and 241 still in it. it was offered from the factory and should go right in.you could also look in the parts for sale forum and get those parts pretty easy. hope this helps

Sell it, and make an offer for mine[IMG] - Seriously though, take a trip to the valley and go junkyard scavenging. You should be able to find a 700/241 or 208 combo pretty cheap.

......And knowing is half the battle

What they said but if you check our for sale threads people sell those parts often too......it really does bite when you want something and its not avail locally in the time frame that you are forced to work with.....
