Thanks again to all that replied to my post about my 83 Jimmy being hard to start in the mornings without pumping the accelerator alot and trying 3 or 4 times. I finally did some checking, and the choke plate doesn't move at all when the accelerator is first pressed to the floor. It's on a Rochester Quadrajet, so I don't know yet if I need to look at electrical (solenoid or choke coil) or mechanical (choke rod bending). I hate carbs! If I hold the plate closed with my hand, it starts with only 2 pumps of the accelerator and starts with no feathering of the gas. It runs smoother too. I may just get it scheduled at the local service station since they do bi-annual smog checks here... don't want to have it fail by screwing something up!. - Gary
