Aight guys I got a hard one for ya I on my 78 k5 I have a winch that was on there when I bought it it's different though the spool turns horizontally instead of over-under like most, the letters HE are on the remote but no other names are printed on it. I need to replace the soleniods(they have post on both sides??? and no body carries them. Just wondering if any body has a clue what it is and where I can get the soleniods. Preciate it

I havent got a clue what you have there, but you may be able to use Ford starter relays.

Can someone verify this? I have seen some relays on older winches that just looked like Ford starter relays.

Maybe it's a Sidwinder winch? I don't know enough about winches to tell you much about them. Maybe someone else has some ideas /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

If it's real old HE could refer to "Hickey Enterprises"....Vic Hickey modified lots of Blazers and off road trucks back in the '70's.That's all I have....

It sounds like a Hickey Sidewinder. Those were tough made winches.

about using a starter solenoid- i have a big compressor on my minitruck thats running off of 4g wire, with a 40 amp breaker and a starter solenoid out of a dodge deisel. i had a ford one but its not rated for constant power, so it burned out. if you go to NAPA you can look through a catalog of solenoids, just get one thats made for constant power, AKA 100% duty cycle. good luck.

Yup, sounds like a Hickey to me! LOL...I still have the sticker from them on the top of my radiator support in my '74. Unfortunately the winch isn't there anymore. Tell you what, If I can get the sticker off in one piece, I'll send it to ya! try looking Hickey Enterprises up on the internet and see what you find.

The winch mounts vertical - instead of the standard horizontal. If you picture a standard winch - then rotate it 90 degrees - you've got a basic picture of it /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I like the drawing of the winch. That was pretty creative.
