Where in the hell do you find the goofy star bit with the little hole in it to remove the top? I've never seen a bit like this to remove the fasteners........HELP!

I think AutoZone carries them, but you have to buy the seat. They are called Security Torx bolts. I'm goign to swap mine out for hex head bolts though, I've already lost the security torx thing.

I think Napa sells the security bits individually.

Why do people keep calling it a Bronco!!!!! [IMG]

It's a T40 security Torx - A little trick to remember when you use these is to put a dab of grease inside the hole on the bit. I've got a T25 in my toolbox that has the little pin broken off in it from trying to wiggle the screw off of it - They will break off on occasion.

    Replace them with Eye-Bolts!
The stock bolts are standard 5/16 or 3/8 thread. Run a nut and washer up the Eye-Bolt, thread Eye-bolt all the way in, align bolt, then tighten the nut to secure.
Great way to secure lighter items.

Also when you go to remove it there are 2 bolts at the back that go in from undernieth. Take the interior panel loose at the back and you can get in there with a ratchet to get them loose. Mine were a 9/16 hex head. I did not put those 2 back in when I put the top back on and have not had any problems with them being out.

Check the parts for sale wanted section for the window.... you can also find them in the local papers and even on eBay... just have to look hard enough! (Other 4x4 sites might be a place to check as well like on Pirate etc...)

sweet idea with the eye-bolts, dave. i think i'm going to use that one.
and you could just keep a few in the glove box to use when the top is off.

if you can't find one of those special torx then use vise grips to get them off until you can get the bit or the normal hex ones, thats what i did.
