Hard Start in Heat

    Have an 83 with the 6.2, and have been experiencing problems with it starting as the weather warms up. Injection pump?

    If you're having problems with the engine warm, YEP - sounds like the pump is weak. If you add alittle 10W or ATF
    to your fuel (like a quart or two per tank) the fuel should thicken up and build pressure easier (and start easier).
    The pump needs build enough pressure to "pop" the injectors open at the precise time. It's not a fix but it can
    verify your diagnosis. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
