    Hi all,
I have found my harmonic balancer is hitting the cross member. what could this be caused by, I have checked my motor mounts and thats not it. when at low idle, the balancer hits. goes away at higher rpms. any thoughts.?

Bad motor mounts...it's the only way the balancer can hit the crossmember. The rubber has prolly turned to mush.

Does the balancer wobble at low rpm,s? If so, replace the balancer before you ruin a seal like I did.

I was wondering if it would damage the seal or bearings. I guess both rigs running at the same time is just not to be.

has the balancer been replaced?? maybe someone put on a larger one?? also, what about the sway bar, has it been replaced as well?? I was going to put a larger diameter sway bar on my Nova, but ran into the same situation.

hes right, its the pieces that the motor mounts bolt to. Cracked. 99.9% sure. Dads truck was exactly the same way, both of the steel pieces were cracked, motor dropped low enough to rub the damper on the crossmember. Mounts were good.

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?
