And I think it is gay that they put a pair of boots on our Flag. :shame: :shame:

Looks like a cheap Hi-Tek knockoff, and I wasn't thrilled with the boots on the flag either. Although, if you look closely, it appears the "flag" is actually a terry cloth beach towel....

Those are Belleville boots. Even says so on one of the pics.
They have a gov't contract and thier own website:
    http://www.bellevilleshoe.com/public/public_5.htm
I don't know what the guys with the terry cloth beach towel are trying to pull.

Goose got it right. We were issued those in the mid 90's, most of us had the gortex non-steel toed black boots. They were a step up from the black cadillacs we used to wear at the time. Now we have tan suede bellevilles, and I've gone through 2 pair in 2 years or so. Not a fan.

Avatar is actually very large mural from the State capitol in Topeka.
The band Kansas used it on their album.
It depicts John Brown, one of our famous residents.

I have two issued sets of Belleville black boots. Didn't care for them one bit. My Bates steeltoes were a lot better. Right now I've got a set of Belleville steel toe desert boots on. About the same comfort level as my black ones :(

    Jagged,

I'm just the opposite of you on the boot issue. I hated the Bates steel toes, but I love the Belleville boots. I've been getting the Belleville boots for years now. During 2000 at Whiteman AFB I went throught 4 pairs of Bates in about as many months. I started getting the Bellevilles at Nellis and they usually last me about 9 or 10 months a pair and are much more comfortable for me. I got the same Belleville boots for when I go to Iraq next month too.

I need to find some steel toed jump boots. I've got a nice set of Mauraders (Corocan), best boots I've worn, but I can't wear them at work because they're not steel toed :(
