    Ok, this really blows...

So this weekend, I decide, "oh, let me double park here for a min..." so I try my hazards. Nothing. no blinking. At first I thought it was just a bulb out or something. but then, with the hzards depressesd, the turn signals also dont work.
So then I try figiting with the different conbinations.
seems that if I depressed the hazard half way, turn the turn signal either way, the blinker works. But , it blinks in synch with the fasten seatbelt light. This is totally driving me nuts!!!!

    Help, anyone with ideas?!?!

Never had to troubleshoot something like this (imagine that! lol) but the hazards may be on a different flasher..if your panel has two flashers, or a convenience center with a flasher, try swapping them and see what happens. At least its easy..i know the cars had seperate flashers for turn signals/hazards, not sure on the trucks.

I would whip out the voltameter and check for shorts. Even the fasten seat belt light blinks?! Hmmm! That's a new one! LOL! I would also replace the flasher too, just to rule that out (they're cheap anyway).

Depending on what year your rig is, it may have a little electronic control box mounted above the accelerator (My 85 does). On this little sub panel you'll find the horn relay, the hazard flasher, the ignition buzzer, and the little black box. If you unplug the black box it will slide right out, and the cover pops off real easy. Look in there for dirt/corrosion. Apparently this little thing is the nerve center of all electricals that really don't need a nerve center. I blew the dust and dirt out of mine, and cleaned the contacts and my hazards magically started working (after a GM tech told me it was the switch, without a doubt).

You might check the fuses.....turn signals are probably on a different fuse than the hazards....

I know, this is like the weirdest problem I've ever heard of myself. I know on imports, they use boxes for all the controls (including brakes, imagine that). I'll check above the accelerator, and use some electronic cleaner on the items you all mentioned. Its just that he "Fasten seatbelt" light comes on when you wiggle it. As the saga continues!!!!

If it happens for no reason, it's usually a fuse. if you haven't wired anything into the blinkers, I doubt it's a short. check your fuses first.
