I have heard of guys using donuts in the collector and it working good. I have what they call dead soft aluminum gaskets. Kinda pricy but they won't ever wear out. I have also in the past cut the collector back and welded on a neck down peice of tubing to use a standard exhaust clamp. One thing I have wanted to try is to cut the header collector off and install two bolt flanges on each side so you end up with 6 bolts to hold the two together. I think that is the biggest problem with this design. 3 bolts just doesn't cut it. Just some ideas for ya.

I have always wanted to try those in a header application. That is a pretty successful factory design that is used quite often in OEM exhausts. I bet they would work well. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

What are those called/who are they made by? Went to look them up, can't find them.

Was pondering asking a header company (such as Thorley) if these could be added to a header as it was being produced.

Anyone know why these aren't used more commonly? (IE on new headers) Increased restriction because of the design?
