header install (warm air intake???)

    what does this do and what do i do with it when i install my headers? the headers are long tube hedmans with AIR and i will be installing cats.

    It's a stupid valve thats supposed to restrict exaust and keep the heat in the manifold so the heat riser for warm air intake can work. But usually they just rattle, cause exaust restrictions for heat risers that don't usually work anyways!!

    ok - so it is no big deal if i remove it, plug the vacuum line and just install a hot air kit for the headers???

    Yeah, Some of the header companies make a kit.

    Yes, you can remove it, as long as no visual emissions inspection.

    It's designed to force hot exhaust back through the intake when the engine is cold, to speed up how fast the engine warms up, especially the carb. Removing it will just (perhaps) slow this down. I doubt you'll even notice.

    This is different than THERMAC, the hot air kits companies sell are for that. The valve you posted the pic of is EFE.
