My 84 is apart in my driveway right now. I hope someone here can answer this, since I doubt JBA will reply to my e-mail by tomorrow. Anyway, I have some shorty headers from JBA that bolt to the stock Y-pipe. Now, there were some peices of metal which were between the y-pipe and stock manifolds. I guess they were sorta acting like gaskets or something. Now, would I need these again for the JBAs? I haven't tried to see if they fit in the headers or not. Anyone got any ideas? I'm hoping to be done with this by friday.

I'm guessing that's the heat riser valve. I wouldn't think you would put that back in. Just see how it fits without it. That's the only advice I know to offer [IMG].

Na, it's not that. me, my friend (Biggray71) and his dad ditched all the A.I.R. and exaust restrictive crap. This peice of metal looks like a round gasket. looks like it it somehow adapted the manifold to the Y-pipe. It kinda reminds me of a really large O-washer, but outta metal.. it's hard to explain right now, since I'm at school. When I get home I'll go take a better look. I wish I had a digital camera [IMG]

I'm asumming you are talking about the thin metal gasket type thing that is made out of a stiff or metal like component? Otherwise you could have a bigger piece that is rounded... but anyways both are used to sela the pipe and header/manifold when it is bolted together. My first Blazer had headers when I got it and I hvent touched this one yet, but my 88 GMC pickup had the second type... Would probably have to see what JBA says to use on their headers to attch to the stock maniflolds.
