I have Dynomax non-emisions full length headers and I am very happy with them. The only modification I had to do was heat and bend the clutch link that goes between the frame and engine block for clearance. It was easy.

Cool, are they coted?
How did you have to bend it, was it the Z bar you had to bend?
How much $$? Do they leak?
Sorry to ask so much but I'm sick of my header leaks and finnaly gonna do something about it!! Old Hedmens that have warped over time!
Thanks

Burt, I've had a few sets of headers on my truck, and others. My 77 chevy (4x4, sm465, 350) I had "flowtech" and they fit w/o mods to anything and they cleared the best of any $100 header's i've seen. I had hookers on my current 77 GMC (4x4, sm465, 454) and they fit w/o mods, but one rubbed the front driveshaft with the collector flange and there wasn't enough meat to grind off to make them fit. Now i've got Thorleys, the kind of headers, on my 77 GMC. They fit way better than anything i've ever used and they seal better for that matter.

A friend had a set of dynomax's on a 76 350/th350/4x4 and one shackle bolt rubbed the header. I also had dynomax's on a 78 chevy/350/2x4 and they fit w/o problems.

Hope this helps!

on my previous 78 i got pair of hooker super comps, they fit perfectly. they slid right in and bolted up, and wasnt close to anything.
on my current 78, i bought a pair of $97 hedmanns (summit), they fit as good but no complaints.

Knife.

I got the headers with paint because I'm too poor for Jet-Hot. I had to bend the z bar on one side. it was easy, I just heated it until it was red, then beat it with a hammer until the headers cleared. I got them for $87 at a swap meet, and they haven't leaked yet.

Have you guys tried the soft aluminum gaskets at Advanced Auto Parts? I had a set of old Hookers that leaked and blew often, they fixed that on mine. They are about $15 vfor the collector, not sure about head.

I have Flo-Tech headers from the local Advance Auto parts. I paid 75 bucks for them and the finish sucks. I did some modifying, mostly bolting them on and then bending them up with a floor jacke and having to pull the passenger side one toward the engine with a cum a long. They work fine and made a deff low end power gain for me. They are cheap and rusted up pretty bad now though, had them for 2 years. I am looking for a new set, maybe Gibson, JBA, or Mesa.

Cool, thanks for the comments!
I probably will save my pennys and get a set of Thorleys for $315 + shipping. I just don't like buying things twice and the set of headers I have on there now are kinda thin and rusted and warped. They are about 5yrs old sence I put um on. I hope to get 10yrs+ outa the Thorleys......

Just get a set of Stainless or some good coated ones. The Jet Hot coating is awesome. I may check into the JBA headers.

Having troubles finding bolt on applications for my rig!
I have the cluch likage going from the frame to the block, Z-bar,so far the Thorley folks are the only ones that have been able to say ,YES we know for sure they will work with no linkage mods needed. So......I know some of the 99 dolor deals will fit but then I need to coat um fer another 150+.
So shoot why not get the tri-Y design and thicker header all together for another 75bucks??
