I just replaced my headlight switch and now when I turn my headlights on, the green flasher arrows and the little blue high beam indicator lights turn on. When I click my high beams, the blue indicators turn off. My blinkers work fine and all on the outside, but when they flash my gauge lights also flash! Has anyone ever had this problem? Could the new switch be defective?

    What could this be?!!!!!

It could be defective.... but i think you got the wrong one. There are several types of that switch for the several different years of our trucks. Put your old one back in and see if it still operates the way it used to.

I'm having a similar problem w/ my headlight switch. When I turn my headlights on, my high beam indictor comes on, my gauge lights goes out, and my fuel gauge quits working. This is the old headlight switch, which I am sure is bad. It sounds like you have a defective switch, but I suppose you could the wrong one.

Yeah, that sounds like what mine is doing. I guess I'll try the old switch again.

    Thanks for the advice Tori..

When I bought my 83 my fuel gauge would quit working the right turn signal indicator would light up and stay on and most of the dash lights would not work. I replaced my headlight switch to no avail. I finally took the time to pull out insturment cluster and found a burned trace on my printed circuit panel. I bought one a wrecking yard for $15 put it in, but still had the same problem. I finally got out the trusty old test light and found a blown fuse. Since I replaced all that I haven't had problem with any of it. And all my dash lights work properly.
