    Heater, vents, defroster don\'t work

My vents, defroster, and heater just stopped working the other day. No warning, just stopped working. I checked the fuses already. Where should I look next?

Is your system vaccummed or cable runned. If is is vac then the line might have gotten disconnect from a vacum source. I had this problem before and all i got was the defrost. Found that the line going from the firewall to the carb had gotten disconnected. Hope this helps

I don't know if mine is vacuum or cable. I think I may have an electrical problem. When I turn the vents or defroster on, I can't even hear the motor running. Maybe I have a bad motor?

If it was vaccumed then you would hear a rush of air when you changed it from defrost to vent. You might have a bad blower motor, or it might not be grounded. I had that problem too.

I guess mine is vacuumed then. Even though nothing works, I still hear the rush of air when I switch from AC, to vent, to defrost.

Check your blower motor. I've had it go out on a couple of my vehicles. If no air is coming out of the vents even when you change the blower speed settings I bet thats what it is. Make sure that its getting power and that its grounded well. If both of these are O.K. replace it, its cheap and easy.

If you hear that rush of air then it's your blower motor. Get a manual if you don't have one and do it yourself, it's not that hard to do. Good luck.

Is the blower motor located inside the engine compartment or under the dash somewhere?

The blower motor is located in the engine compartment. i f you were looking at the firewall then it would be on your left toward the top. it should be held in place with six self tapping screw. I got mine from pep boys for 18.99. Good luck.
