I've been wanting to share pics of my K5 for quite sometime now, but the truth is there's not much to show. I've got the front clip off and the frame and firewall all cleaned up and nicely painted, but the big block isn't in it yet. So in the mean time, here's a pic of my "daily driver"/sleeper. An honest to goodness rear wheel drive, V8 (LT1) muscle car that pulls like a freight train on nitrous. Plans for the car include, ram air intake, headers with a true dual exhaust (no cats!!!), upgraded ignition, lowered springs, some nice aftermarket wheels, re-do the interior, killer paint job and far too many other little details to name here. Just had to share as I'm totally proud of my "bomber". Did I mention I only paid $3700 for it?[IMG]

Very nice. You could always do a SS Impala clone on it. That would be sweet. One question - do you ever sit under bridges, behind billboards, or underneath buildings and watch the speeders freak out and slam on their brakes because they thing you are a cop? Sometimes we sit in my 96 Z34 Monte behind a building so just the front sticks out and watch people do that. It looks like a Lumina police car if you see from the rims forward, so they get terrified when they are really hauling!

Wayne,
It's funny you say that, because you might not be able to tell from the picture, but my daughter's car seat is in the back. Hopefully it will be her ONLY ride in the back of a cop car!!!!!
Blaze,
I'd like to "clone" it, but the truth is, it's not a real SS. The car will look similar to an SS (I'm painting it black!) but will have subtle differences which I think will make it look even nicer than an Impala. Even if I cloned it exaclty like an SS, deep down I'd know it's not an SS and it would bug me. Besides I think the Impala wheels are pretty ugly and they're only 17's. I plan on going with at least 18's if not 20's depending how they look on the car.
The car is a retired cop car and actually was black and white when I got it. For the first week before I painted the roof and doors, people would slow down like you wouldn't believe. I like to give it a little gas when I'm on the freeway and it was way to annoying to have everyone slow down in front of you.

Haha, that's pretty funny. I bet you looked like the Blues Brothers driving around in an old cop car. I hear that about the SS. Sometimes it is better to build it how you like rather than clone somebody else's idea, if ya know what I mean.

Hey Sam, very sweet! I'm a sucker for full size performance cars. I agree with you on the clone thing though. Build it the way you want and like![IMG] The clone thing smacks of "RICE". Kind of like the stickers on the Acura's...

How about some pics of the K5 anyways? You know we're all interested no matter what your progress or even lack of progress.

Hey Rene how's it going? Well I hope.
I hear ya about building it "my way". And I'm pretty confident that it'll be appreciated by most people as well. No tacky stuff for me. I want it to be a nice clean, big car. There's a lot of expensive euro cars here at work, so I need it to have "presence".
About the K5, I haven't taken pictures yet because I've been mad at myself for not dedicating any time to it lately. But the good news is that I bought a bunch of parts for it last weekend so I don't have any excuses for not working on it this weekend. Even though I just got the Caprice, I've got the bug to work on the Blazer. I guess it has to do with summer right around the corner. I'll post pics as soon as I can, especially if I get done what I have planned for this weekend.

Things are going well Sam, I just did my tub swap this past weekend....my user name is now fiction[IMG]
I still have a few small details to finish up, a couple of small dents to pull and then its off to the paint shop for me...[IMG]
Kinda wiped out though, 32 hours in 2 and a half days will do that! My friend (currently on my sh!t list) jammed out on me at the last minute so I did the whole deal solo...[IMG]
I can't wait to finally see pics of your K5!

Not bad at all for $3700. Check out http://www.impalaclub.com/ for some of the common performance tricks with the ImpalaSS which would apply to your 9C1 for the most part.

I know what you mean about people slowing down in front of you when you're trying to get somewhere. It can be a real PITA.

Rene,
It sucks that you're friend d!cked out on you. My buddy and I really try to avoid that stuff. It's tough sometimes to get by without having a good friend around.
It sounds like your rig is coming along rather nicely. What do have have in mind for paint? Single stage, basecoat/clearcoat? Any colors in mind? And are you going for a "nice" job or just something to make all the body panels match?
I'll be taking pictures of a friend's truck soon, so I'll probably take some Blazer pictures as well. I'll post them as soon as I get them. It'll be funny to see the reactions it'll get.

I got about 4 gallons of paint free from my old work. Its a dark red metallic with a touch of pearl in it. Don't laugh please I didn't get to pic the color. Its Endura, 2 part urathane and it is very tough. I just want tha damn thing one color and well protected by paint.
Hopefully i'll have it painted soon, just gotta find someone to spray it for me...I don't mind if it looks real good, but I'm also not gonna mind scratching it up either [IMG] Definitely not aiming for "show quality".

Rene,
It sounds like it'll be brightier than Dorothy's shoes! I'm just messing with you. Hey, do you think four gallons will be enough?[IMG] Have you thought about maybe trading the paint for another color? Some auto body supply shops have small bulletin boards were auto body men post business cards, maybe you could post the paint and that you'd like to trade it for something else. Since you've got four gallons of it you should be able to trade it for something more appelaing to your tastes, but if the red is cool with you, then go for it.

You know i must be a dumb-ass for not thinking of that![IMG] Red or any variation of red doesn't really do it for me, I'd prefer a dark or medium blue. I'll have to look into trading it off. I think 4 gallons might be enough...[IMG]
