Hello, which year Blazer is the best?

    I had a rust-bucket 85 blazer and I sold it for parts. Now I need a reliable Blazer that I can drive on long trips. I want a stock truck that hasn't been lifted or beaten. That way I can lift it myself and do the beating!!

    From a reliablity aspect, which is better MPI or TBI ?
    How much power difference?
    Which years came with TBI and which with MPI?

    None of the real blazers (old body style) cam with MPI except a diesel (dont even know if you would call it MPI) but 87 to 91 had TBI which is a great system. Personally, I like the 89-91 body, but thats up to you. I would say definetly get a TBI truck and probably look for a later model as it has a 241 transfer case. Just my opinion.

    i love my 88 k5 with the 350tbi. i had 35's with 3.73s and i could still lay rubber on take off. no complain interms of power. there is a big hp difference between the older ones and the newer tbi ones. i too love the 89-91 face, thats one swap i really wanna do.

    I'm in agreement. Get one with the factory fuel injection. Its reliable, runs at all angles, and has plenty of power. Sure you can swap that stuff into an older body, but its much easier to put old body stuff on a newer truck than newer engine stuff in an old body. If I had it to do over again I would go that route.

    i love my 91 and couldn't ever go to a carb...i have a friend thats lookin into gettin one, and unless you can get a REALLLLLLLY great deal on a carbed one, aim for 88 up.

    We have a 72 CST with a completely original drivetrain untouched, but the body is rough. 125,000 miles, Sitting about 11 years and still fires right up!

    I love my '91. Best year IMO. That's what I searched for and bought. Even within the '89-'91 there are a few subtle differences, getting better the later you go.
