under the front... Talked to a couple of ck5 guys in the chat room earlier and they said it may be the spider gears... Will make the sound when you are driving straight and will last for a couple of seconds then go away... Ive got a 73 k5, automatic with fulltime 4x4... Any thoughts appreciated...

Had a similar prob. on my '77K10 with fulltime. It was the spindle bearing. This is the small needle bearing that the sub axle rides on. It is located just inside of the outer seal on the inboard side of the steering knuckle assembly. Some of my terms aren't right, but I hope you get the idea.
