welp its that time of year now, already...... :frown1:

what ratio oil and gas should i mix for a little homelite weed eater and how do i measure ?

i want to mix up 2 gallons of gas

i was looking on back of container of oil and it says:

for 1 gallon 8 oz of oil and for 2 gallons 11 oz of oil..

    to make 24:1 ratio..

11 oz ?! thats insane thats pretty much a whole soda can full! i was thinkign more along the lines of like 2 or 3 oz to a gallon ?

    no ?

or should i be mixing up some other ratio ?

    50:1 ?
    16:1 ?
    100:1 ?

    i have no clue..

someone fix me up that knows about this stuff ? cuz i know jack crap about 2 cycles and mixing fuel up for them,, how to figure these ratios and ounces to gallons and crap
its so complicated it seems, i dunno,

and i dont really want to blow this weed eater up.. i kinda need it heh..

and how am i suposed ot know how many oz of oil im adding anyways ??

also what is this homelite 2.6 oz exact mix bottle of oil ?? http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDU...mc=1hd.com2msn-_-product_feed-_-D28X-_-161708

    50:1 ? 1 gallon ?
is that what i need to be making up for this weed eater ?

    thanks

Go here and look at the chart.

Amount of gas in gallons your using on top - mix ratio your using on the left.

The ounces you need are where the two meet.

Your oil bottle should have the ounces displayed, some bottles have an ounce gauge on the side. If yours doesn't you'll need a measuring cup with ounce markings.

    Steal the wife's.

ADDY: For a 2.56 ounce bottle at 50:1 ratio - one bottle goes in one gallon. If you had a 5 gallon jerry can you'd drop in 5 bottles.

lol i donthave a wife hehe

never have probably never will either, hum

anyways yeah the bottle says ounces and ratios on the back

but i dunno whats correct for the homelites ?

i keep seeing either 32 or 50 ratios,

    hum

seems like im gonna need right about 3.5 oz for a gallon,,, or so.,

ive got valvoline 2 cycle oil in blue one quart container,

i guess if it seems too hot then its not enough oil and if it smokes alot then its too much,

may have to trial and error this thing to some degree,,
from what i have read so far it seems ot really depend on the oil and not the engine, and that homelite are mainly 32:1, with their own oil anyways,

    hummm...

good little page there thanks :D

Its probably 32:1, both our weedeater and blower uses 32:1, my grandparents weedeater is 32:1. Even our old 80's vintage weedeater(that got stolen, thing was sweet) used 32:1.
